NCP's Ajit Pawar Sworn in as Agent CM in Eknath Shinde-led Maha govt

NCP's Ajit Pawar sworn in as agent CM in Eknath Shinde-led Maha govt

Ajit Pawar, a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has created a vertical split within the party by joining the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government as the deputy Chief Minister. The move came after Ajit Pawar and his supporters were reportedly displeased by the presence of NCP President Sharad Pawar and party's working president Supriya Sule at an Opposition meeting in Patna.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Raj Bhawan, where Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the deputy Chief Minister by Governor Ramesh Bais. Additionally, eight other NCP leaders, namely Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Walse Patil, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde, Aditi Tatkare, Dharmarao Atram, Anil Patil, and Sanjay Bansode, also took oath as ministers.

Rahul Narwekar, the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker, was present at the Raj Bhawan and confirmed that Ajit Pawar had resigned as the leader of the opposition in the Lower House, and his resignation had been accepted. This development has led to a significant political realignment within the NCP and the Maharashtra government.
